Should I sell my gold (gold sovereign image)As you may have seen recently the price of gold has been falling from all time highs of over $1800 per ounce, to it’s recent lows of under $1200 per ounce.

This creates a problem for those of you with scrap gold to sell, simply because your gold is now worth less than it was a few short months ago.

If you had been holding onto it for a rainy day, or had hoped it would go higher still, or simply didn’t need to sell it yet, then you most probably feel reluctant to sell it now, since it feels like it has lost value. [Read more…]

Gold Falls to 4 Year Lows

Gold prices fell last week to under $1200 per ounce for the first time in 4 years, with some investment funds that back gold seeing falls of over 50% in value from the peak gold prices as a consequence.

For many investors this now leaves a conundrum of whether to hold onto their gold in the hope it will reverse it’s losses and turn upwards again, or to sell in order to avoid more falls if the trend continues.

Of course the performance of gold has had more to do with the Federal Reserve and their plans regarding the future of quantitative easing than any doubts about the metal itself, but it does beg the question as to whether gold remains a good investment or should be avoided. [Read more…]

Olympic Gold Medal Sells for £17,500

The gold medal won in 1908 at the London Olympics by rower Raymond Etherington-Smith sold at auction for a staggering £17,500 in September 2012, the same year as the 2012 London Olympic games. [Read more…]
