Rolex Watches

Buying and Selling luxury branded watchesRolex, makers of Rolex watches were founded in 1905. Their products are today ranked as one of the best global brands, and one of the best known, with the company, based in Geneva, Switzerland, being the biggest watch manufacturing company in the world.

They can produce more than two thousand different models of watch per day. The brains behind the company, which was founded in England and later moved to Switzerland, were Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davies (a brother-in-law to Wilsdorf).

Since its inception Rolex watches have won prestigious awards both locally and internationally as makers of luxury and high quality watches. They have made award-winning watches, which stand them out of the competitors as the leader in that industry.

The all time best timepieces the company has produced include the Oyster. Originally produced in 1926, the Oyster was unique because it was the first waterproof watch in history.

The company followed suit in 1945 with Rolex Datejust, as the name suggests this was the first wristwatch that automatically changed the date by itself.

In 1953, the company added another feather to its cap as it produced the popular Oyster Perpetual Submariner, the difference between this Oyster and the previous is that it has a waterproof case, and it is made to withstand the pressures up to 330 feet underwater, making it a divers watch.

In 1956, Rolex introduced another wristwatch called Rolex Day-Date. This watch changes date and day automatically on the dial. Rolex was the first manufacturer to earn the prestigious Chronometer Certification for wristwatches, as you can see Rolex has dominated the watch making industry for a very long time.

Different watch models are available for both men and women, with all of the models belonging to one of its three-watch production lines.
The lines include Cellini, Professional, and the Oyster Perpetual, some of the best known and desirable models include: the Oyster Perpetual, Date, Air King, Lady Datejust Pearlmaster, Datejust, Datejust II, Daytona, Day-Date, Day-Date Oyster Perpetual, Day-Date II, Explorer II, Explorer, Sea Dweller, Oysterquartz, GMT Master and several other models.

All these models are among the best sellers on the luxury watch market.

Submariner Date is a popular product from the company. It has special meaning to the underwater world being made of high grade steel and being 40 mm, it was designed and first sold in 1953 as a watch specially for scuba diving. An epitome of elegance, the watch is reliable and has a precision depth of 1000 feet underwater.

As far as Rolex watches are concerned their elegance is timeless and this couldn’t be illustrated better than in the Oyster Perpetual Datejust, which has since it was intorduced in 1945 remained one of the most sought after watches made by Rolex.

As an example of special watches produced by Rolex, the Cosmography Daytona is specially designed for professional motor sport drivers and racers for both practicality and comfort.

Whenever you buy a Rolex watch, you should always expect the best in terms of design, quality, and precision since they are absolutely first-class quality wristwatches and their reputation of being among the best watches in the world has been earned over generations of satisfied customers and enduring high end production using only the best materials.

Rolex employ state of the art technology and the most qualified engineers in watch production, which also creates a highly durable watch that will last forever.

If you want a prestigious wristwatch that will outlive you and that you can hand down to future generations, then a Rolex is definitely worth consideration.

Of course this quality, reputation, and name mean that Rolex watches are very expensive, it is to be expected whenever you buy a precision watch made with the finest materials available in the industry.

However, if you shop around carefully you will be able to find dealers who offer any given model at a much lower price than the highstreet jewellers, with the internet for example many dealers can avoid the heavy costs of having a high street shop, and so can apss on the savings to you, the consumer.

It is also well worth thinking about looking at used Rolex watches. Unlike with other lesser brands the iconic watches from Rolex don’t ever go out of style, indeed some of the older models have a classic quality that you just can’t get with new models, and if you are happy to own what was someone elses treasured possession, then you can end up paying far less than if you buy brand new.

The prices vary across models, the materials they are made from (gold watches for example will obviously cost far more than a stainless steel watch), and the functions they offer.

Indeed there is even a Rolex that costs a cool Half a Million Dollars (the 116769TBR) if your budget will stretch that far, and if you would dare to ever actually wear it!

There are Rolex models that have been designed for special events like the Australian Open and Wimbledon, the USA open and the open championships.

More recently in 2013, Rolex was chosen as the timekeeper for FIA Formula 1.

Selling Your Rolex Watch

If you have a Rolex watch that you want to sell then you will find that there is a ready queue of people who will want to buy such an iconic timepiece from you, such is the name and value of these watches, but of course you want to make sure that you get the best possible price.

As explained in my overview to buying and selling luxury watches, there are many ways to sell, but most of them (online auctions, auction houses, local jewellers, etc) carry heavy excessive charges that will eat into your sale price, or you will simply not achieve the kind of money that your Rolex is worth.

The best way to get the best price is to find a specialist watch dealer who sells used Rolex watches, since they actively buy and sell Rolex watches meaning they will have a list of clients who they know are likely to be interested immediately, meaning they will make a very quick sale.

Of course they are likely to need to spend money servicing and repairing any faults or belmishes that your Rolex may have, and these costs need to be subtracted, but even so they are likely to offer you the best price possible, and will probably buy your Rolex very quickly.
